Recipe for Chemba Puttu

Time required : 10 mins for making the wet puttu flour and 10 mins for steaming the flour with grated cocnut in puttu maker

Ingredients :
Chemba Puttu flour /White Rice Puttu Flour- 2 cup
Salt to taste
Water to mix the flour
Grated coconut     - 1 cup

Preparation :
1)Mix the puttu flour with salt and water to get the texture.
Check for texture by holding some quantity of mixed flour in your palms, if you get a small ball then the texture is correct.
it should not be so wet or so dry.
Keep it aside for 10-15mins.

For steaming
2)Fill the puttu flour into the puttu maker with grated coconut.
3)Steam it for 5-10 mins.

Chemba puttu is ready.


Recipe for Mackerel  / Ayilla fish curry

Ingredients:

Mackerel / Ayilla Fish           - 500 gms
Garlic                  -5 nos
Ginger                  - small piece
Green chilly            - 3 nos
Small onion or shallots - 5 nos
curry leaves            - 10 leaves
Tamarind paste          - 2 tablespoon
Fenugeek seeds          -1/2 table spoon

Red Chilly powder           - 2 tablespoon
Kashmiri chilly powder  - 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder         - 1 tablespoon
Coriander powder        - 1 tablespoon
salt to taste

Note : Make paste of ginger and garlic and chop shallots,green chilly into small pieces.

Preparation:
1)Clean the fish and cut it into small even pieces
2)Add oil to the kadai.it is better to have non-stick kadai while making fish curry
3)After oil gets heated, add fenugeek seeds
4)After 1 min, add ginger,garlic paste and chopped shallots and green chilly,curry leaves.
5)Once we get nice smell of all the fried ingredients, add red chilly,turmeric,coriander powder and salt.
6)After 2 min, add tamarind paste and 1/2 cup water.if you find the gravy very thick, you can add some more water.
7)Once it get boiled add the fish into the kadai and stir softly.
8)Cook for 15 mins.While cooking keep the lids of the kadai open to get rich favour

Hot & spicy Mackerel fish curry is ready to serve with Chemba puttu.
